Onsen (hot spring) - Auberge Tosayama

Open air bath at Auberge Tosayama
Are you tired from the summer heat? If so, why don’t you refresh your body by taking a hot spring? In Kochi there are a variety of hot spa facilities. Most of them warm cold spring water that gushes out from the earth, but the quality of the water is excellent. Surely enough your fatigue will be washed away and you will feel deep satisfaction.

Auberge Tosayama

It’s only 30mins from Kochi City, but really is surrounded by peaceful mountain views. On arrival, a reception clerk will let you pick out your favorite Yukata. They have many colors and patterns for men and women.

Rooms are wooden, and make you feel as if you’re visiting your friend’s room. In the room, there is no clock or TV. Instead, there is a CD player and you can borrow CDs at the reception. There are no bathroom scales either, so you can forget about your daily worries and totally enjoy a “lazy” time.

I recommend you take a walk around the hotel before meals or bathing. From the Rotenburo (open air bath), you can enjoy the beautiful starry sky, which is much clearer here than in the city. This would be the best place to bring your family and friends when they come to Kochi. I’m sure they will love it!
