Kumo no Ueno Onsen

You are surrounded by great nature.

   Yusuhara is a small town located near the source of the beautiful Shimanto River and it is surrounded by the Shikoku Karst. “Kumo no Ueno Onsen” with fresh hot spring water stands among magnificent mountains, making you want to stop by when driving through.

 

   Its spring quality is good for washing off excess sebum and dead skin cells, and creating fresh, smooth skin. That is why it is called “Spring of Beauty” and there is a variety of hot springs to enjoy:

・Open-air bath – Mountains rise in front of you and the scenery changes seasonally; fresh green in spring, autumn leaves in autumn and a snowscape in winter. You may want to take a bath a few times even in one day to see the different views between day and night! After soaking in the mildly slimy bath, your skin will be very smooth.・Large bath – Grand mountains can be seen from the wall of windows while you are in the indoor hot spring.

・Jacuzzi bath – Air bubbles massage your body, making you want to stay in the bathtub for a while.

・Lie-down bath – It feels great just lying down, bathing in the sunlight coming through the window.

 

   Other hot springs are the kaburi bath (rinsing yourself before taking a bath to prevent blood pressure going up), waterfall shower ,spacious sauna and cold water bath. After or before taking a bath, why not try a delicious meal of karaage or deepfried sea bream at the self-service restaurant? There is also a gift shop where you can find specialties and souvenirs of Yusuhara Town.

   The Good Design Award-winning hotel, “Kumo no Ueno Hotel” is nearby and it is a must-see stylish piece of architecture built using local wood.

Directions: From JR Kochi Station, take the express train to Susaki Station (40 minutes) and take the bus to Yusuhara (70 minutes). 1 hour and 40 minutes by car from Kochi City.
