GENKI Seinenkai Tosaben Musical 2016 - O-Henro ALL STARS -

A photo taken onstage with a selfie stick
at the 2015 Tosaben Musical
Won’t you add a bit of “GENKI” to your life? Each year, GENKI Seinenkai presents the Tosaben Musical!
This year’s title is O-Henro ALL STARS. One night in Tosa, known as the “austerity and discipline” section of the Shikoku Henro Pilgrimage, many pilgrims gather at an inn, about to give up on their journeys. But why do they want to give up…?
In an adventure of tanuki, shibaten, magicians, nosy-parkers, and other “only in Tosa” protagonists and antagonists, the characters will learn about friendship and forgiveness all over again. We hope all of you will join the adventure too!
Admission is free, but donations are requested. Proceeds from donations will provide financial support for a high school or university student planning a study abroad, so please give generously!

Tosa Space Sake & Deep Sea Water Sake

You may have heard of Space Barley recently, or you may even have heard of Space Yoghurt. But, before all of that, Kochi was the first to create our very own Tosa Space Sake.

Manbō (Sunfish)

Do you know the sunfish (“manbō”), one of the most popular fish exhibited in aquariums in Japan, with lovable appearance and cute swimming style, is eaten in Kochi?

Whaling Culture

Whaling is a controversial topic across the world. However, no matter what your opinion of this practice, it is undeniable that Kochi has a long history of catching and eating whales. I would like to take a quick look at this history to see how important whaling really is to Kochi’s cultural identity.

Deep Sea Water

Brand Logo
Salt water taken from deep in the sea, named “deep sea water,” is rich in minerals and remains cold throughout the year. It is used for many purposes in Kochi, such as producing mineral water, developing cosmetics, raising fish and growing crops. This valuable resource is pumped up from approximately 320m below the ocean surface off Cape Muroto and desalinated for drinking.

Muroto Geopark

A panoramic view of the Muroto Cape
What do you think of when you hear “geopark?” Geo comes from Greek meaning earth or land, and of course park is a large public area. However, “geopark” does not simply mean a geological park, but includes the people, culture, and even industries that revolve around and work closely with the land formation and ecosystem of that area. And lucky us, we have one of these geoparks right here in Kochi!
